Design & Build Quality

One of the main reasons people are in love with the Caliburn so much is its style. It’s simple, but stylish and is comfortable to hold and use. Its dimensions measure in at 110mm x 21mm and 12mm. It’s slim and tall, so hanging onto its bottom and vaporizing on it feels very easy and natural. It can be tucked into your pockets in your pants or in a pocket on your shirt and will not even notice it’s there.

“CALIBURN” appears on the front of the device , and “UWELL” appears on its back. Two lines are raised on each corner of the Caliburn which run from top to the bottom. These lines are in line with the lines of the pod, giving the Caliburn some sleek design. This definitely helps make the Caliburn appear better than it would be if it were just simple.

The Caliburn is constructed of aluminum-alloy and , as a result, it’s very light. It’s still very sturdy and long-lasting, however. Since the device is totally smooth, I’ve dropped it from a height of standing several times on concrete floors and hardwood floors. With the exception of a few small scratches and dings, it’s perfectly functional and looking good.

The Caliburn is available in six different shades. Five of the colors are solid and one of them fades from pink to purple to blue. The black paint I used on my review unit has held up very well with the exception of some dings and scratches caused by dropping it. It’s not easily scratched and the paint not flake or rub off with ease. However, the bottom edge of the Caliburn contain a bit of paint that has come out of being sat on a variety of surfaces.

You can use the fire/power button to smoke or draw directly onto the mouthpiece. The Caliburn features both drawing activated buttons and button activation, so you can choose which you prefer. Fire button very well constructed and requires a bit of pressure to trigger. It isn’t wiggle or move in any way.

Under the power/fire button is an indicator LED. It lights up green or blue to show the level of battery. The LED will flash when you draw or hit on the button to fire.

On the opposite side of the device, there is an opening for the ejuice view window on the pod. Once the pod is in the window is placed in the cutout, allowing you to examine the level of your ejuice without having to take it out. The window is clear making it very practical and easy to look through.

Standard Caliburn pods are attached magnetically, and then click into the correct position. It is necessary to press down with a lot of force to get your pod into place. When the pod clicks into the battery, it’s a flush fit that has no movement or it will wiggle. It is also possible to make use of Caliburn Koko pods in conjunction with the Caliburn, but they don’t connect to the battery as the regular Caliburn pods. Caliburn Koko pods are attached only by magnets. They’re still a wiggle-free fit , and I’ve found they remain attached as well as regular Caliburn pods.

Pod

Caliburn pods can hold up to 2ml of e-juice. Two identical pods are included inside the package, both of which are equipped with integrated 1.4ohm coils. The pods can be replaced, meaning that you are able to alter the coils. After the pods have been burned out, you must replace the whole pod. This is ideal for people who are looking for a basic device to fill up and begin using.

It is also possible to make use of Caliburn Koko pods in conjunction with the Caliburn. These pods are 1.2ohm and feature an red base (the base of normal Caliburn is black).

Airflow is pumped into the pod via small airflow holes located on both sides of Caliburn. The airflow is then pushed in through a hole in the inside of the pod.

The mouthpiece of the pod is sloping on both sides, and is comfortable to smoke on. The mouthpiece of the pod also acts as an fill cap. It is necessary to take the cap off in order to gain access to the fill ports however it’s a challenge to take out of the cap. Moving the cap from sideways can help but it’s usually difficult to take off.

When you take the cap off, you’ll be able to see three holes. The middle hole isn’t an empty hole, so don’t use ejuice here otherwise you’ll overflow the coil! It is possible to fill the pod by filling one of the holes on the outside. If you fill it through one hole, the second lets air escape, making filling it simpler.

Even though the hole for air releases, you must refill the pods gradually. Since the coil is located in center of the pod the ejuice isn’t evenly distributed unless it is tilted. The tilting of the pod causes the ejuice flowing towards the opposite side. If you fill it too fast the ejuice will fill only the side of the hole that you’ve chosen and exit through the hole. After you’ve finished filling, the mouthpiece or cap pressure is re-fitted to the pod.

Battery and Charging

The Caliburn comes with a battery of 520mAh. When fully charged, the Caliburn can last for quite a while vaping. It’s only 11W, so it only requires a small amount of battery per draw. In the average, I’ve had around 3 refills per charge.

The light that is located under the power button shows the battery’s charge level. Three colors are displayed:

Green: 100-60%
Blue: 60-30%
Red: Less than 30 percent

Press the fire button to test the battery’s level, or when you puff using draw, it will illuminate the LED.

The charging process is fast, even when the Caliburn utilizes micro-USB charging. It takes only 45 minutes from a dead completely charged. It also supports pass-thru charging, which means it can be used to vape while charging.

Performance

The Caliburn is a great vape. The included pods as well as the Caliburn Koko pods offer the same draw, an airy but loose MTL draw. If you prefer a tight MTL draw, then this may not be the right device for you.

The typical 1.4ohm Caliburn pods deliver a pleasant throat hit, with a 50mg nicotine salt. Its vapor tastes warm, but not too hot and extremely enjoyable. The flavor is very pleasant and is a great match for all the hype out on the market. The production of vapor is higher than what you’d expect from devices with 11W.

Caliburn Koko pods provide a like experience as regular pods. But, since they’re 1.2ohm pods they’re slightly warmer. The vapor isn’t hot, but it’s noticeably warmer than the normal pod. Cloud production and flavor are also excellent and pleasing.

To draw very warm, make use of pods from the Caliburn Koko pods. For only a warm draw, make use of regular pods.

The production of vapor, flavor, and even warmth begin to decrease when the battery is dying. The Caliburn isn’t a continuous output device, so it’s normal to see this. When the battery is red, it’s a less powerful draw, so I was more inclined to charge it when it reached this point.

The pods I tested emitted any leaks or caused any problems in my tests. I mostly used 50/50 nic salts, but I also tried an e-juice with 60 VG once. I often took long draws and chain vaped , and never experienced a dry hit or even close to. Wicking the pods really excellent and is a no-brainer.

I’ve been using each pod for approximately a week and with multiple refills per day, they’re still going well. The longevity of the pods is definitely an advantage for this product.

Verdict

The Caliburn isn’t without flaws, but there are a few areas which could be improved, but it’s generally a good vape. If you’re looking for a precise MTL draw, then you’ll need to consider a different device. For a more easy MTL drawing, then you’ll definitely be satisfied using the Caliburn.

Vapers who are new to the hobby will appreciate the simplicity of use and the ease of use, while more experienced users will still enjoy the taste and battery life long-lasting that the Caliburn provides. If you are looking for a nic salt vape the Caliburn is one of the top devices that you can buy in the present.

The Caliburn is made well and the pods last for an extended time and the taste is excellent. I would still highly recommend the Caliburn, even with the latest alternatives available.
