It is doubtful that these members leave voluntarily from their positions of forced to resign to disrupt the local government election. Is Sri Lanka a democratic Socialist Country. Can the executive remove officers as he wish?
Plenty people available to take up roles for the salery provided Thursday, 26 January 2023 01:34 PM
These people are getting lots of public money. They have to be forced out if they are for the waste of 10,000,000,000 of public money on LG polls. There are plenty, meaning probably 10,000 others at least who could easily do the job of those who resigned.

I think they are just doing the right thing and allowing the reintroduced CC to make its appointments. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them are reappointed.

Mrs.Charles is right honest lady. There must be too much political interference for such honest people to leave on the eve of elections
Outdated Constituion cause problem good members resigning Thursday, 26 January 2023 07:48 PM
Sooner the election commission is broken the better. Those remaining members must believe the Constitution matters. The 13A which allows for the LG vote was forced in by the Indians. At least the Provincial Council system is broken, bad luck for India. Now the corrupt LG polls which expects to put in 4000 too many member, that’s 8000 altogether must be broken too by any means. Our country cannot afford 10 Billion for the sake of outdated Constitution.
