Sri Lanka’s Worst Power Cuts Predicted In March And April 2023

Sunil Thursday, 15 December 2022 02:06 PM

Most probably the country does not have sufficient funds to pay for coal. At the end of March last year, the country set a proud record by imposing 13 1/2 power cuts. This year this nation will improve this record. What a country to live in.

These guys give the worst case scenarios just so that they can have their 5 minutes of media fame. Let’s indulge them

So, no rate increase please for bonuses and other commissions of the CEB.

Electrical Engineer Thursday, 15 December 2022 02:50 PM

Why not CEB engineers union initiate to connect solar to grid as much as possible and release burden on thermal power. You need to talk about coal only as you don’t get commission from solar ?

Stop putting up corrupt ideas Thursday, 15 December 2022 06:10 PM

You are pushing the corrupt solar business, which can’t function after dark or even during overcast times. Sri Lanka needs reliable power, not pathetic solar and wind which work on the whims of the weather, time of day, and even season.

When continuous acts of sin have been committed in the name of racism, the curse stays on. Now Sinhalese are seen rushing out seeking refuge in other countries.

PC Thursday, 15 December 2022 04:06 PM

This has resulted because of the greed and corruption and utter refusal to amalgamate alternative power generating methods.

Iwazaru Thursday, 15 December 2022 04:10 PM

No problem. We just stay put in the dark and pray to god.

KM Rafeek Thursday, 15 December 2022 04:44 PM

Government Media encouraging private media too Masses are suffering and more sufferings to come those 69 percent are responsible for the present plight. Came to power for one purpose and ended up ruining the NATION – handed over the country to ZERO percent

Jega Thursday, 15 December 2022 05:34 PM

Who is this man to warn the country? He is pretty quick to blame the government which is struggling to find dollars even to buy essential medicines because he will lose all his privileges due to privatization. He and his cliques will not be able launch strikes and increase their salaries in future. A country which has fallen economically to the bottom cannot do every thing in time. The central bank governor, finance minister and the subject minister will try to find money. There is enough time. Many countries are helping us now.

Ram Thursday, 15 December 2022 05:57 PM

Yes, we will suffer without power. Areas where Politicians reside no power cuts. Why is this discrimination? We are made to suffer for all their mistakes.

Sam Silva Thursday, 15 December 2022 07:14 PM

As per ceb billions are due to ceb. Find a mechanism to collect these and it may help out

G.A.D.Sirimal Thursday, 15 December 2022 07:19 PM

Even with all the coal is made available an d all the present generation plants operate without any break-down, yet there will be power cuts as there are no new power plants to meet the demand

Demuni Uduwara Friday, 16 December 2022 06:23 AM

Consumers have not deprived their monthly dues to the CEB upto now. Then look after them.

Peace and calm Friday, 16 December 2022 08:52 AM

If so then apply that to each and everyone not only to the general public and leave out the bloody politicians etc who caused this whole mess!!! We can manage, but why our children have to suffer in the dark with mosquito bites and no sleep, no fans, not being able to study properly, what is this?? These are new generation children, they don’t deserve to go through this!

Roshanaly Friday, 16 December 2022 09:39 AM

Yes, minority community expected this as Fasting starts in March.

Consumer Friday, 16 December 2022 10:45 AM

HAVE THE PRESIDENT, PM, POWER AND ENERGY MINISTER, CABINET MINISTERS AND STATE MINISTERS, PUC CHAIRMAN ALL SEEN THIS PREDICTION BY THE CEB ENGINEERS UNION ?
