The 900-kilometer long mountain range that runs from the north-east and stretching to the south-west . This isn’t just a physical borderline, it was also – for a number of years – a border for politics: Transylvania belonged to the Austro-Hungarian empire. Wallachia and Moldavia became Romania the Kingdom of Romania in 1866. Since 1920, Transylvania and Romania are now united.

Transylvania is known as a place to visit for Saxon villages, with their massive fortified churches that are hidden away in villages in the hills of sun-soaked in which good wines are produced. The mountains are a great place to hike and skiing possibilities. It is worth a visit to the Transylvanian towns in Brasov and Cluj are a treasure trove of culture and history. Sibiu is the cultural capital of Europe in 2007 and has the slogan: Young since 1191 – a thriving cultural city and city of culture!
The southward side from the Carpathian mountains, in the vast plains is Bucharest the capital city of Romania. In the south-east region, the Danube River Danube forms a huge natural delta before flowing into to the Black Sea. The Danube delta is truly unique in Europe and is a bird’s paradise! It is impossible to imagine the sheer number and variety of birds that breed here if you’ve not experienced them through yourself.
In the north-west region of Romania is Maramures in the north-west of Romania, where wood is the primary resource , and it is the base for many artworks like gates or churches with intricate carvings. The inhabitants of Maramures are extremely pleased with the national costume that remain a staple of their daily lives.
Bucovina located in northern Italy is known as a place of paintings of monasteries. Some of them have been designated as world heritage cultural sites by UNESCO.
Climate:
Romania is a country with continental climate that is hot summers and cold snowy winters. It is generally dry but it can be quite high in the mountains. While temperatures can fall to 25degC during winter months, the majority of people will not feel the cold since it’s very dry.

All nations require a valid passport valid for the period the duration of their stay. People who are citizens from the EU only require their ID card.
