Why Do People Read Blogs?

With constantly evolving marketing trends, Google’s fluid algorithms, and the shift in the way that people search for information, you might wonder whether people are still searching for blogs and read them?

The answer, naturally the answer is yes!

In a recent study conducted by HubSpot 60 percent of the population read blogs on the internet. What’s the reason? What are they seeking to achieve through studying their books? According to the study there are three primary motives, which we’ll be discussing in this article. However, we’d like go a step further and share a few more things we’ve discovered by listening to our readers as well as our web site users.

5 Reasons Blogs are Read by People

They want to learn something Different

In today’s DIY world the most common thing internet users are searching for is how to complete something. Maybe they’d like to put in your own cabinets for kitchen use or perhaps they’d like to know how to improve the marketing of their business (that’s likely the reason your here!). People are looking for information that will help them learn more about something.

Blog posts that aid users through a procedure, which include instructional videos, data or even just to provide a new idea is the kind of posts that get a lot of traffic from search engines.

The articles don’t need to be a step-by-step guide that includes detailed instructions. They could simply provide in-depth details about something, thus giving readers information they didn’t already have. People are hungry for knowledge.

They’d like to be entertained

Everyone is looking for entertainment. This is the reason we have TVs, video game systems, and even computers for a lot of people (when they’re not at work or attending school). Reading is an excellent way to entertain yourself. Particularly when it’s amusing or humorous.

In actuality, in times of boredom, it’s possible to be searching for a specific topic. It’s interesting to read about it, then becoming attracted by a particular topic that is a subtopic of the blog and then researching more information about it, until you’re so far from the original topic that you’re not even able to remember the way you came to this point. “Going down the rabbit hole” is what my friend Valerie describes it (and she often does it! ).

They are interested in researching their Industry

Consider the reason you’re here. Perhaps you’re a business owner seeking marketing advice. Perhaps you’re a fellow marketing professional. Perhaps you’re Valerie thinking about why I’m talking about you on this blog. If you’re among the two mentioned above you might be conducting studies in your field. In this instance, it’s marketing. The constantly changing trends are something we must keep up to date within our field, and we definitely do!

It’s not only about marketing. If the reader is an art business and is a painter, they could be reading blogs on paint industry trends, new developments in different paint types as well as other bits of information that can assist them in managing their business.

People are curious

Many blogs are not looking to market something. Actually, blogs that are selling products typically have a great mix of topics that aren’t business related too (if they’re doing things right!)

A lot of people use the internet and read blogs like Roost & Roam to satisfy their interest. People are interested in getting an insight into another’s life. The blog reading experience is similar to taking a peek into an individual’s journal. Yes, it may sound odd. But isn’t this the same motive behind watching movies or tv shows? In order to feel that we’re seeing another person’s world, whether authentic or not.

People are looking to connect and Feel Like They Are Part Of Something

Personal connection is sometimes missed when you’re having a drink with friends or via the telephone. Engaging with blogs, reading them, engaging with them, making a post and expressing your opinion These are all activities that can create a personal bond.

The interaction is not only private, but many people would like to feel they’re not the only ones. They might have started by searching for someone who is experiencing the same issues as they’re having. Being able to find someone having the same issue creates a an emotional connection and feeling of belonging.

While these are only five reasons why people visit blog posts, they have many other reasons. It’s a trend that will not be going away anytime very soon. Have you taken a moment to think about why you’re reading them?
